Democrat Chris Beutler was the top vote-getter in the mayor’s race in unofficial final results from Tuesday’s primary election.

I learned today about a mailing to Lincoln voters regarding my opponent Ken Svoboda from the State Democratic Party. I do not believe that discussing Mr. Svoboda’s personal life was appropriate. My campaign was not consulted about this ahead of time. Had we been consulted, I would have told them not to do it.

During opening statements, Beutler thanked the students and other organizers of the event.

“You’re having a positive effect on the interests of young people in this campaign,” he said.

Campaign finance reports indicate Chris Beutler is winning the money war in the race to be Lincoln’s next mayor.
